New paper in Research Policy

Rikard Lindgren’s paper (together with Fatemeh Saadatmand and Ulrike Schultze) “Configurations of platform organizations: Implications for complementor engagement” has been accepted for publication in a special issue of Research Policy on “Digitization of innovation and entrepreneurship”. It builds on a 12-year study of how the interplay between governance mechanisms and technology architecture configures platform organizations, and why these configurations produce different levels of complementor engagement. Identifying vertical, horizontal, and modular platform organizations, its main contribution is a set of propositions that theorizes the implications of these organizational forms for complementor engagement. These insights that were derived from a shared platform are particularly relevant for blockchain-based platforms.
