SCDI Analytics Lab

With the increased access to data, research is experiencing a period of wonderful opportunities. As a massive volume of data is generated by organizations and the public, computational methods offer help to make sense and tackle many challenges or the hypercompetitive world. Be it tens of millions of recruitment records, snapshots of organizational hierarchies, or social media campaign discourses – we specialize in making sense of complex, unstructured, messy, fuzzy data to understand the phenomena at hand.

At the Analytics lab we rely on methods to address the task and data at hand. For example, we might approach interaction data using Network Analysis (SNA), text data by leveraging natural language processing (NLP), projects’ data with configurational approach (QCA) and quantitative data relying on statistical methods. Most projects require a combination of several methods and qualitative work. The assemblage of approaches is dynamic and unique to each project!

Our mission is to generate insights that leverage data availability, rely on computational analysis methods, and are powered by rigorous research. This last bit is central to how we work: besides solving a problem at hand our insights must push the field forward, one research project at a time! We always consider what can we learn, how to communicate it, and make sure that the wide range of stakeholders can leverage it forward after the project is completed.

With increased access to new kinds of data for both research and operations, there is a need for new analytics capabilities. The SCDI Analytics Lab is a direct response to this new need and opportunities.

The Analytics Lab is set up to capture analytical opportunities within both research and practice. The Lab is led by Director Vasili Mankevich.

The Analytics Lab is open to setups with both researchers and practitioners.
