In a new piece on Organisation & Samhälle, SCDI scholars argue that AI is disrupting research and its funding alike, and pushing academia toward what we call embedded science: a state in which the academic monopoly on scientific knowledge creation is no longer a given. The scientific article, long the unit of that monopoly, may be next.
In current work, we are engaging with designing the necessary computational infrastructure for affording a safe and responsible transition into this brave new world. We will continue to publish new insights as they emerge.
